Activation of Cytochrome Oxidase by Synthetic Detergents

Abstract

SINCE 1941, sodium cholate or sodium deoxycholate has been used by many investigators to extract and purify cytochrome a or cytochrome oxidase1–10. However, it is necessary to remove such agents as sodium cholate or sodium deoxycholate from the solution of the enzyme, because they inhibit the cytochrome oxidase activity.
