Abstract
THE screw dislocation mechanism of crystal growth proposed by Frank1 has been verified by the observation of growth spirals on faces of beryl2 and silicon carbide3. In particular, the recent work of Verma3 provides very satisfactorily a confirmation of many of the theoretical predictions.
