Estimation of Protein Hydration by Dielectric Measurements at Microwave Frequencies

Abstract

DIELECTRIC measurements of protein solutions1 show relaxation of the protein molecule at frequencies of the order of 106 cycles/sec., the dielectric constant falling to a constant value (ɛs) in the region 107–109 cycles/sec. Oncley2 suggested that measurement of ɛs might be used for estimating protein hydration.
